K-State Bounces Past UMKC Kangaroos, 63-31

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) - Megan Mahoney scored 15 points, and No. 25 Kansas State limited Missouri-Kansas City to just three in the last 11 minutes of a 63-31 victory Saturday.

After Kansas State (5-2) led 28-17 at halftime, Katie Houlehan hit a 3-pointer and Jowan Ortega added a basket to bring the Kangaroos (2-6) within 28-22.

Laurie Koehn added nine points for Kansas State, which held Houlehan to 8 points. Houlehan, UMKC's all-time leading scorer, was averaging 20.1.

Kendra Wecker, the Wildcats' leading scorer and rebounder, missed her second game because of an ankle sprain.

Mahoney scored with 18 minutes remaining for the Wildcats' first basket since Jessica McFarland scored with 5:10 left in the first half. Mahoney scored six points at the start of the second half, and her layup off the break made it 34-24 with 15:30 left.
