No. 6 Wildcats Falls to No. 9 Georgia

MARTIN, Tenn.- The No. 6 K-State equestrian team looked to clinch a win in the spring schedule opener on Friday, but No. 9 Georgia took the win at the Ned McWherter Agriculture Pavilion with a 14-4 win over the Wildcats. The Wildcats have now dropped five straight meets, following an unbeaten start to the season.


  • Kansas State equestrian is now 5-5 this season.
  • Three of the four points came from underclassmen in today's match up.
  • The Wildcats struggled in Hunt Seat today, as they fell, 9-0, but in Western claimed a few victories to fall short with a score of 5-4 in favor of the Bulldogs.

Equitation over Fences

  • The Bulldogs swept past the Wildcats, 4-0.
  • The Wildcats are now 5-5 in the discipline this season. 

Equitation on the Flat

  • Georgia completed the Hunt Seat sweep with a 5-0 decision over K-State.
  • The Wildcats are now 7-3 in the discipline this season.


  • Kansas State battled out a tie with the Bulldogs, 2-2.
  • K-State received scoring rides from underclassmen: Sophomore Alyssa Lombardi and freshman Kirsten Chamberland.
  • Lombardi carded a score of 74.5 in a re-ride to defeat Rachel Kolb, 73.5.
  • Chamberland carded a score of 71.5 to ride past Georgia's Heather Schmidt, 70.5, gaining a point for Kansas State.  


  • The Bulldogs edged past K-State with a 3-2 decision.
  • Junior Kara Guy rode past UGA's Caroline Robinson, 67.5-64.5, to pick up her third win of the season (3-5-1).
  •  Freshman Jessica Johns picked up her first win of the season as well with a victory over UGA's Lindsey Cheek, 72-0.
