MANHATTAN, Kan. - Behind two Most Outstanding Performer honors and a strong outing from the Hunter Seat team, the No. 6 Kansas State women's equestrian team earned its fifth consecutive win on Saturday, defeating South Dakota State, 13-6 (1461.5-1315.5).

Head coach Casie Maxwell was very pleased by the way her team came out today.

"Our girls rode really strong, you cannot take anything away from how they rode," Maxwell said. "They performed well and they had a lot of confidence."

The Hunter Seat team once again had a marvelous day, besting South Dakota State 8-1. The Hunter Seat team has outscored opponents, 36-9, during its five meet win streak.

In Equitation Over Fences, K-State swept the discipline, 5-0, to start the day. Sophomore Madison Wayda gave the Wildcats the first point of the day after scoring a 77 on her ride. Junior captain Rachel Webster earned her 10th win of the year after besting her Jackrabbit counterpart, 84-75. Junior Cat Avolese defeated South Dakota State rider Jenna Boscardin, 82-69, for her second win of the year. Yates was excited after earning her first MOP of the year.

"I was ecstatic, I have been riding for that all year," Yates said. "I have been trying to do the best that I can, winning as much as I can and it is always a good feeling to know that you go out there and get the reward that you are looking for."

In Equitation on the Flat, the Wildcats earned three points to seal another strong performance by the Hunter Seat team. Seniors Meredith Finch and Larissa Laffey remained undefeated on the season, as they both improved to 6-0 after beating Lauren Kerr and Megan Schiffman, respectively.
