Wildcats Fall on the Road to TCU

Fort Worth, Texas- The No. 2 K-State equestrian team fell short on their first road meet of the season on Friday afternoon at Turning Point Ranch, as Kansas State was defeated by No. 8 TCU in a head-to-head battle, 13-5.   


Noteworthy

  • Kansas State equestrian is now 4-1 this season, and 1-1 in Big 12 matchups.
  • The leadership of the team's captains showed today as three of the five points from them, Senior Madison Wayda and Savannah Smith as well as junior Danielle Kemper.

Equitation over Fences

  • K-State battled out the discipline, but fell to TCU, 4-1.
  • Wayda eased past Jayme Omand of TCU, 84-75, and is now (53-45-2) as a Wildcat and (9-2-1) this season. 

Equitation on the Flat

  • The Horned Frogs notched the victory today as the Wildcats' fell short, 3-1.
  • The Wildcats' win came from sophomore Christina Martinelli, who laid claim to the win with a 76-70 victory over TCU's Omand.
  • Martinelli is now (4-4-1) in the 2014-15 season.
  • This is the first time this season that K-State has not come out on top in this discipline. 

Horsemanship

  • The Wildcats came out fighting in Horsemanship as they tied TCU, 2-2.
  • K-State received scoring rides from Kemper as well as sophomore Sydney Anson
  • Kemper carded a score of 70.5 to ride past TCU's Colby Plott, 67.5, gaining a point for Kansas State.
  • Anson tallied her fourth career win with a conquest over Rylee Morgan, 66.5-55. 

Reining

  • The Horned Frogs notched the victory today as the Wildcats' fell short, 4-1.
  • Smith is now 4-1 this season as she captured K-State's lone point against TCU's Nikki Woodward, 71-68.
  • Smith is now (22-16-3) in her career as a rider for the Wildcats.
