Outside the Arena with Patterson and Warner

Name: Stephanie Patterson

Year in School: Freshman

Year on the Team: First

Discipline: Hunter Seat

Hometown: Calgary, Alberta, Canada

Major: Anthropology

Riding Background (before college): I competed in the jumpers in Canada with my horse, Zi.  The highlight has been riding at Spruce Meadows; I got to do a victory gallop my first round!  It's pretty cool because they play music and make the spectators clap in time with the music...even for the smaller classes!

Why I chose K-State: A few reasons: the riding team (girls, coaches, facilities...all of them are great!), the campus (it's stunning!), and purple's my color!

My favorite part about being a member of the KSUET: The 6 am workouts 3 times a week...JUST KIDDING.  Probably the fact that I get to compete in my favorite activity in a team environment [as opposed to just being an individual as riding typically is].

Favorite Manhattan restaurant: So far, I would have to say that I'm loving the BBQ joints...Pat's Blue Ribbon is leading the pack right now.

The last book I read:  I'm reading Wyrd Sisters by Terry Pratchett right now-great choice if you appreciate the slightly off beat.

If I could have any superpower it would be: I get a super power?

Excellent.  I would have to pick telekinesis.  The things that you could do with that...

Favorite TV show: I love “Numb3rs.”  Like, will-re-watch-episodes-on-my-computer-whenever-I-can type of love.

Favorite Holiday: Anything with a big meal that brings my family together.  There's a lot of us, so that means a LOT of great food (you learn quickly which dishes to avoid)!

The last CD I bought: 'Do you believe in Magic' by The Lovin' Spoonful.

Plans after graduation: Are you kidding?  That's 4 years away.  I have no idea really, but my guess is that I'm going to be either riding competitively, or coming back for my Masters.  But, like I said, that's a full 4 years away (if I'm lucky and get it all done).
