Riders to Compete in St. Louis for IHSA Scrimmage

MANHATTAN, Kan. The Kansas State equestrian team will start off the spring season this weekend in St. Louis for an IHSA Scrimmage. K-State will send 18 English riders to face eight other schools including, Northern Illinois, Southern Illinois, Washington University, Missouri State, Northwest Missouri State, Iowa State and Illinois State.

“This weekend’s show will be a great opportunity for our young riders to gain some valuable experience,” head coach Teresa Slough said.

This scrimmage will not count towards selection for varsity championships and no official points will be rewarded but it will be a gauge for some young riders that have little experience in competition.

Both Saturday and Sunday’s shows will start first thing in the morning and will wrap up around mid-afternoon.

The first full team competition of the spring season is set for Saturday, February 24 at Baylor. The Wildcats will host their first shows of the spring on March 3 and 4, beginning with an IHSA Western show on March 3 before hosting Texas A&M on March 4 in a varsity competition.

Results from the weekend’s show will be available online at kstatesports.com as they become available.
