WACO, Texas – The National Collegiate Equitation Association (NCEA) announced on Thursday its March Rider of the Month honors, with Kansas State’s Kelly Bovaird taking the accolade in Horsemanship.

"Kelly has had a great season and an outstanding month of March,” said head coach Casie Maxwell. “She has worked extremely hard and is very deserving of this award. I look forward to great performances from her in her final National Championship."

This is Bovaird’s second March Rider of the Month honor, after earning the Big 12 award.

Hailing from Tulsa, Okla., Bovaird had a perfect March, compiling a 3-0 record with one Most Outstanding Player (MOP) honor. The senior earned her first win of the month in dramatic fashion, defeating TCU’s Rylee Morgan on the final ride on Senior Day. She also picked up two wins during the Big 12 Championship. Her wins came over OSU’s Ty Paris and TCU’s Erin Gillette.

"I am so excited to be the NCEA rider of the month,” said Bovaird. “It was definitely a surprise and a great confidence builder heading into nationals. I'm so thankful to be a part of such an amazing team with incredible teammates and coaches."

Joining Bovaird was Auburn riders Quincy Hayes (Equitation Over Fences), Demi Stiegler (Equitation on the Flat) and Oklahoma State rider Justine Peters (Reining).

The Wildcats are in the midst of preparing for the NCEA National Championship. The Championship takes place April 17-19 at the Extraco Events Center in Waco, Texas. The Wildcats will take on Texas A&M in the first round.
