NCEA Hunter Seat Bracket | NCEA Western Bracket

The No. 5 Kansas State equestrian team visits Waco, Texas, as the team looks to win a national championship at the National Collegiate Equestrian Association (NCEA) championships, April 18-20 at the Extraco Coliseum. The Western team is the No. 2 seed, while the Hunter Seat team is the No. 8 seed.

Head coach Casie Maxwell expects her team to continue the momentum that the team built up at the end of the regular season and Big 12 championship.

“It is great to finally be at the National Championship,” said Maxwell. “The girls have worked so hard all year to prepare for this and we look forward to putting our hard work to the test."

After dominant performances near the end of the season, the Western team was rewarded by earning the No. 2 overall seed in the discipline. The side receives a first round bye and will face the winner of the South Dakota State/ UT-Martin matchup on Friday at 9 a.m. The Wildcats faced both teams earlier in the season, defeating UT-Martin 7-3, while splitting the Western matchup with South Dakota State, 5-5.

The Hunter Seat team will face a familiar foe in its first round match, as the side will compete against No. 9 seeded UT-Martin at 9 a.m., in Equitation on the Flat and 1 p.m., in Equitation over Fences. K-State’s Hunter Seat team came out on top in the matchup, 6-4, on Sept. 29. The winner between the two schools will move on to the second round and face No. 1 seed Baylor on Friday morning.

Results and recaps of the NCEA championships will be made available on www.kstatesports.com.
