Sommer Competes at IHSA Nationals

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. Kansas State equestrian rider Dresden Sommer competed in the IHSA National competition Saturday, falling just short of placing in the top ten in Individual Intermediate on the Flat against 18 other riders. This is the final competition for the Wildcat sophomore and one other K-State rider will compete this weekend.

“She went into the ring and rode a little too conservatively today,” english coach Ashley Duda said. “She rode really well and I think we needed to show off a little bit more to catch the judge’s attention.”

“The competition at this level is much higher than what we are used to,” Sommer said. “It was kind of intimidating, but I stayed focused and rode to the best of my ability. I am very happy to make it as far as I did.”

Junior Emily Wolfe will compete on Sunday in Beginner Horsemanship to wrap up weekend competition for the Wildcats.

Results from Sundays show will be available at as they become available.
