June 20, 2011

MANHATTAN, Kan. -The Kansas State women's equestrian team will hold a mandatory meeting at 5 p.m. on Monday, August 22, for those who wish to try out for the 2011-12 squad.

The meeting will take place in Seaton Hall, Room 132 on the Kansas State University campus, and will be in conjunction with the riding portion of the walk-on tryouts that will be held on August 23 and 24 at Timbercreek Stables.

At the meeting, the Wildcat coaching staff will explain the tryout procedure and the expectations of being a K-State student-athlete. All riders need to be experienced in either horsemanship, equitation on the flat or equitation over fences, in order to try out. There will be no reining tryouts at this time. Riders with reining experience should contact head coach Casie Lisabeth if they are interested in potentially joining the team.

This meeting is mandatory for those who wish to try out for the team. Potential squad members, with the exception of those student-athletes who have been named to the returner list or were placed on the team during the recruiting process, will need to participate in the tryouts.

All interested riders will need to bring a copy of their fall class schedules, as well as a front and back copy of their medical insurance card, to the meeting. Individuals that cannot attend the meeting due to a class conflict need to contact head coach Casie Lisabeth at lisabeth@kstatesports.com prior to August 19 in order to complete the appropriate paperwork and sign up for a tryout time. The riding portion of tryouts will take place on Tuesday, August 23 and Wednesday, August 24 (if needed).

The final roster will be announced on Wednesday, August 24. Once the final roster is announced, all riders will be required to pass a fitness test before participating in the first practice of the season. As required by the NCAA, riders will have to go through the NCAA Clearinghouse process to be deemed eligible. If riders are not deemed a `qualifier' or do not meet transfer requirements (if applicable) they will not be eligible to participate on the team.

Also due to NCAA regulations, those students who have been enrolled as a full-time student (12 or more hours) prior to the fall of 2007 will not be eligible to tryout.
