Wildcats Host UT-Martin and Delaware State

MANHATTAN, Kan. The Kansas State equestrian team will continue its season at home on Friday as it meets Tennessee-Martin and Delaware State in the squad’s first varsity competition in four weeks. The show is set for an 11 a.m. start at Fox Creek Farm.

The Wildcat varsity squads are coming off a close tiebreaker loss to Baylor back on October 17, 1294-1269.5, and are looking to pick up their first win of the 2008-09 season.

Whitney Snyder will lead the Wildcats in Equitation over Fences in the Hunter Seat division, along with Ashley Collett, Jen Rawle, Katie Mellon, and Kendall Marvin.

Snyder will also lead the Wildcats in Equitation on the Flat, along with Ellesse Tzinberg, Jenny Giraldin, Katie Mellon, and Stephanie Patterson.

“We are looking forward to getting back in action against the University of Tennessee-Martin and Delaware State University,” said Ashley Foster, Hunter Seat head coach. “We have gone back to the basics throughout the past few weeks. It will be good to see how the work carries over to the show ring. Hopefully, we will see major improvement in our rounds since our last varsity competition.”

On the Western side, Alyssa Freeman will lead K-State in Reining, along with Morgan Campbell, Alecia Zimbelman, Dani Pettera, and Kaylee Stout.

Freeman will lead K-State in Horsemanship as well, along with Laura Browne, Jana Lechtenberg, Mikaela Sundgren, and Sierra Fredrick.

Rawle and Fredrick are showing in varsity competition for the first time this season, and are in hopes of picking up big wins for the Wildcats.

“We are all excited to host another three-way competition this year,” said Casie Williamson, Western head coach. “We are glad to be hosting Tennessee-Martin and Delaware State for the first time and hope for a great competition. On the Western side, we are anxious to get back in the arena after having a few weeks off. It was nice to have some time to really work on our techniques and basic maneuvers, but we are ready to get back to competition.”

Delaware State holds a 3-2 record, while Tennessee-Martin is 1-0 on the season.
