K-State in 11th at Juli Inkster

SAN JOSE, Calif.—The Kansas State women’s golf team sits in 11th place after the first day of the Juli Inkster Spartan Invitational at the par 72, 6,180-yard Almaden Golf and Country Club Monday. The Wildcats bettered their strokecount by 13 in the second round to finish the day with a 36-hole score of 43-over par 619.

“It was a rough start on the greens in round one, but we bounced back in round two,” said head coach Kristi Knight.

Olivia Eliasson led the Wildcats on the day, notching a 36-hole score of 8-over par 152 to sit in a tie for 30th. Eliasson looks to move up on the leaderboard in the final round and earn her fourth top-20 finish of the season.

Whitney Pyle fired a 1-over par 73 in the second round, bettering her strokecount by nine from round one to sit in a tie for 43rd. One stroke behind Pyle is Gianna Misenhelter, who turned in a 6-over par 78 in both rounds to sit in a tie for 47th.

Carly Ragains tallied a 36-hole score of 14-over par 158, and Scotland Preston carded a 17-over par 161.

Stanford sits on top of the team leaderboard at 2-over par 578, nine strokes ahead of second-place California.

Stanford’s Mariah Stackhouse leads the individual competition at 3-under par 141, three strokes ahead of teammate Danielle Frasier. Three of Stanford’s five golfers currently sit in the top-five.
