Wildcats Finish 11th in San Jose

SAN JOSE, Calif.—The Kansas State women’s golf team finished in 11th place after the final round of the Juli Inkster Spartan Invitational at the 6,180-yard, par 72 Almaden Golf and Country Club on Monday.

The Wildcats tallied a 20-over par 308 in the third round, marking the sixth best team score of the day.

Olivia Eliasson led the Wildcats for the second consecutive week with a 54-hole score of 12-over par 228 to finish in a tie for 23rd, one stroke shy of a top-20 finish.

Whitney Pyle and Gianna Misenhelter both carded a 15-over par 231 to finish in a tie for 31st.  Misenhelter bettered her strokecount by three in the final round to move up 16 spots on the leaderboard.

“We had three solid scores today,” said head coach Kristi Knight. “The course played tough, but I am proud of our effort because we earned the sixth best score on the round.”

Carly Ragains notched a 23-over par 239 to finish in a tie for 55th, while Scotland Preston earned a 54-hole score of 29-over par 245.

Stanford claimed the top spot on the leaderboard with a final score of 14-over par 878, 11 strokes ahead of second-place Washington.

Stanford’s Mariah Stackhouse remained solid in the final round as she finished in first place with a 54-hole score of 4-under par 212, six strokes ahead of second place Regina DeGuzman of San Jose State.

The Wildcats will be back in action March 15-16, as they travel to Tucson, Ariz., to compete in the Mountain View Collegiate.
