Wildcats in Seventh after Day One

ST. GEORGE, Utah - The Kansas State women's golf team sits in seventh place after two rounds of play at the BYU Entrada Classic at the par-72, 7,085-yard Entrada Golf Course on Monday. The Wildcats finished the day at 23-over par 599.

"We did a nice job in round one," head coach Kristi Knight said. "Round two was not anywhere near what we expect from a team that played the way we did in the fall."

Sophomore Madison Talley finished the day at 2-over par 146 and is tied for 11th. Senior Carly Ragains carded a 6-over par 150 and sits tied for 26th place, while Sophomore Katherine Gravel-Coursol is tied for 33rd at 8-over par 152. Senior Olivia Eliasson and freshman Connie Jaffrey are both tied for 40th after carding a 10-over par 154.

"We wasted too many shots toward the end of round two," Knight said. "We will find out tomorrow what we are made of."

California leads the team competition with a score of 8-under par 568 and is paced by Lucia Gutierrez, who is tied for second at 4-under par 140. On the top of the individual leaderboard is San Francisco's Vanessa Ha who finished the day at 6-under par 138.

The third round of the BYU Entrada Classic will begin at 8 a.m. (MT) on Tuesday. Live stats can be followed on www.golfstat.com and final results will be posted on www.kstatesports.com following the conclusion of the event.
