Wildcats in Fifth at Mountain View

TUCSON, Ariz. - The Kansas State women's golf team sits in fifth place after two rounds of play at the Mountain View Collegiate Invitational at the par-72, 6,227-yard Mountain View Golf Club on Friday. The Wildcats finished the day at 1-over par 577.

Sophomore Madison Talley carded six birdies and led the team with a low score of 68 in round two for an overall score of 5-under par 139. She enters Saturday's final round tied for fifth place, just two shots behind the leader. Senior Olivia Eliasson is also in the top 20 after carding a 1-under par 143 to sit in a tie for 14th place.

"The team did well today," head coach Kristi Knight said. "They showed a lot of patience. The pace of play was very slow, but they handled it. We got three real good scores both rounds."

Senior Carly Ragains carded a 3-over par 147 and sits tied for 40th place, while freshman Connie Jaffrey carded a 4-over par 148 as she is tied for 45th place. Rounding out the scoring lineup is sophomore Katherine Gravel-Coursol, who is tied 97th place after a 14-over par 158.

Florida International leads the team competition with a score of 6-under par 570 and is paced by Meghan MacLaren and Katerina Krasova, who are tied for second at 6-under par 138. On the top of the individual leaderboard is Iowa State's Chonlada Chayanun, who finished the day at 7-under par 137.

The third round of the Mountain View Collegiate will begin at 8 a.m. (MT) on Saturday. Live stats can be followed on www.birdiefire.com and final results will be posted on www.kstatesports.com following the conclusion of the event.
