Osterloo, Wildcats In Contention After Two Rounds

ST. GEORGE, Utah - Paige Osterloo fired an even-par 72 in the second round to move into a tie for eighth and the Kansas State women's golf team carded its best two rounds of the spring Monday at the BYU at Entrada Classic as the Wildcats are in sixth place out of 15 teams after two rounds.


Osterloo notched an 8-over par 80 in the first round to find herself in a tie for 26th, but she responded with an even-par 72 in the second 18 holes to move into the top 10. She enters Tuesday's final round with a 36-hole score of 152 as she is eyeing her second top-10 finish of the season.


K-State's two round total of 51-over par 627 is the lowest score the Wildcats have posted this spring season, besting its previous low of 643 at the Fresno State Lexus Classic. Every Wildcat recorded their lowest 36-hole score of the spring season.


"We played good golf in stretches," said coach Kristi Knight. "You can tell by the scores that the course is playing tough, but we have put ourselves in position for a good finish."


Wisconsin leads the team competition after posting a two-round score of 39-over par 615. The Badgers lead the Cowgirls of Oklahoma State by one stroke, who carded a 40-over par 616.


New Mexico State's Demi Mak leads all individuals with a two-round score of 4-over par 148. She is ahead of Illinois' Hailey Koschmann, who posted a 5-over par 149 through 36-holes.


Joining Osterloo in the top-20 is K-State freshman Gianna Misenhelter, who is in tie for 19th. Misenhelter recorded 6-over par 78 in both the first and second rounds to take a 36-hole score of 12-over par 156. The freshman is in contention for her fifth top-20 finish of the season.


Whitney Pyle shot a 6-over par 78 in the first round followed by 9-over par 81 in the second round to total a 36-hole score of 15-over par 159 to sit in a tie for 32nd.


Ami Storey is in a tie for 37th after carding a 16-over par 160. Storey recorded a 7-over par 79 in the first 18-holes and followed with a 9-over par 81 in the second round.


In 71st is Kristen Dorsey after a two-round score of 13-over par 173. Dorsey notched a second-round score of 13-over par 85.


K-State's final round of the BYU at Entrada Classic will begin at 9:30 a.m. (CT) and can be followed at www.golfstat.com. Results will be posted as soon as the become available at www.kstatesports.com.
