K-State Ties for Third in Arizona

TUCSON, Ariz. - The Kansas State women's golf team capped off its two-tournament road trip with a top-five finish following Saturday's final round of the Mountain View Collegiate Invitational at the par-72, 6,227-yard Mountain View Golf Club. The Wildcats tied for third place with a score of even-par 864, moving up two spots on the leader board from Friday thanks to a second-straight round of 1-under par 287 in the final 18 holes.

"I am proud of the team," said head coach Kristi Knight, whose team notched its third top-five finish this season and first of the spring. "They did a great job. This is a strong finish."

Kansas State had three players in the top 20, led by senior Olivia Eliasson, who tied for 10th place with an overall score of 2-under par 214, including a 1-under par 71 on Saturday. She has earned six top-10 finishes in her career.

Also finishing in the top-20 was sophomore Madison Talley and senior Carly Ragains. Talley finished in a tie for 14th after carding a 1-under par 215 for the event. Ragains carded a team-low 2-under par 70 in the final round to improve to a 1-over par 217. She tied for 20th place, jumping 20 spots up the individual leader board on the final day.

Freshman Connie Jaffrey carded a 4-over par 220 as she tied for 34th place. Rounding out the scoring lineup was sophomore Katherine Gravel-Coursol, who tied 90th place after a 16-over par 232.

Ohio State had a strong final round to take home the team title at 8-under par 856, five strokes ahead of second-place FIU. FIU's Meghan MacLaren won individual honors with a final score of 7-under par 209, one stroke ahead of second-place finisher Chonlada Chayanun of Iowa State.

The Wildcats will be back in action, April 10-11, as they travel to Mesquite, Texas, to compete in the SMU/DAC Invitational.
