Wildcats in Fifth after Two Rounds in Tucson

TUCSON, Ariz.--The Kansas State women's golf team carded a 9-over par 585 to sit in fifth place after two rounds of the Mountain View Collegiate at the par 72, 6,227-yard Mountain View Golf Club on Friday.

The Wildcats are one stroke behind fourth-place Nebraska and nine strokes shy of second-place Indiana. Texas Tech sits atop the leaderboard with a two-round score of 570, six strokes ahead of Indiana.

"I am very proud of our ladies," head coach Kristi Knight said. "They did a nice job today. We had a few shots get away from us, but we also hit a lot of good shots."

Ami Storey currently sits in a tie for sixth after notching a career best 2-under par 70 in the first round, marking her second under-par round this season. The senior tallied an even par 72 in the second round for a career-best 36-hole score of 2-under par 142.

Carly Ragains bettered her stroke count by five in the second round, shooting a career best 2-under par 70 to sit in a tie for 16th. Ragains will look to continue her solid play and earn her first top-20 finish on the season.

Whitney Pyle tallied a 36-hole score of 4-over par 148. The junior moved up 13 spots on the leaderboard in the second round to sit in a tie for 27th.

Gianna Misenhelter tallied a 1-over par 73 in the first round, but the sophomore fell in round two, shooting a 5-over par 77 to sit in a tie for 38th.

Hanna Roos notched a 3-over par in the first round, but fell in round two shooting a 6-over par 78.

Competing as an individual, Kristen Dorsey notched a 36-hole score of 11-over par 155 to sit in a tie for 55th.

San Jose State's Jennifer Brumbaugh currently sits on top of the leaderboard with an 8-under par 136. Three players are four strokes behind Davies to sit in a tie for second.

Results of the third round will be posted on www.kstatesports.com following the conclusion of play on Saturday.
