TUCSON, Ariz. - Kansas State's Hanna Roos claimed her second top-20 finish of the season Saturday finishing in a tie for 18th out of 96 individuals, at the MountainView Collegiate Invitational.
Roos carded a 2-over par 74 in the final round. The freshman finished with a career-low 54-hole score of 9-over par 225.
K-State shot a 20-over par 308 in the final round to finish in 14th place. The Wildcats finished with a three-round total of 920 (+56). K-State began the day in a tie for ninth but was an able to improve their scores and slipped five spots.
"I am really proud of Hanna she played well," said coach Kristi Knight. "We did not have a real good team tournament but we have a week to prepare for the next event. We played hard, just not our best day."
Colorado State claimed the team title after a scorecard playoff against Texas Tech. The Rams tallied a 293 (+5) in the final round to finish with a three-round total of 890 (+26).
The individual title also showed a tie after all three rounds and a winner could not be determined from a scorecard playoff. The tournament director declared Missouri's Julia Potter and Texas Tech's Gabriella Dominquez co-champions. Potter and Dominquez each carded 54-hole scores of 3-over par 219.
Abbi Sunner recorded a final-round 81 (+9) finishing in a tie for 46th. The senior started the day tied for 19th but was unable to carry momentum into the final day and tallied a three-round score of 231 (+15).
Elise Houtz shot a 7-over par 79 in the final round to place her in a tie for 58th. The junior tied for first in par-3 scoring, shooting even on par-3's battling a knee injury throughout the round.
Sophomore Ami Storey finished with a 54-hole score of 234 (+18) to tie for 65th. Storey recorded a 5-over par 77 in the final round.
Morgan Moon shot a 6-over par 78, her lowest score of the event, in the final round to place in a tie for 86th. The senior finished with a score of 26-over par 242 over three rounds.
K-State will continue action April 5th at the Canes/Cards Classic, in Miami Lakes, Fla., at Twin Rivers Golf Course.
