COLUMBUS, Ind. – Paige Osterloo led a strong effort by the Kansas State women’s golf team with three individuals finishing in the top-20 at the Indiana Invitational Tuesday. K-State finished fifth out of 15 teams in its final regular season event before the Big 12 Championships.

The event was shortened to just 36-holes after Monday's scheduled first and second rounds were suspended due to rain. The Wildcats played through tough conditions again on Tuesday, carding a 29-over par 317 in the first round followed by a 19-over par 307 in the second. The two-round score of 48-over par 624 placed the Wildcats in fifth, two strokes ahead of sixth-place Western Michigan. K-State’s three individuals placing in the top-20 is the most since it had five at the Chip-N-Club Invitational during the fall slate.

“We played pretty well today,” said coach Kristi Knight. “The conditions were tough so scores were kind of high, but we competed hard and I am proud of the effort.”

Osterloo fired a 36-hole score of 9-over par 153 to place tied for eighth among 86 individuals. It marks her third top-10 finish of the season and the second of the spring.

Ami Storey also notched a top-20 finish with a tie for 12th. Her score of 10-over par 154 earned Storey her third top-20 performance of the season.

The third Wildcat in the top-20 was Whitney Pyle as she tied for 19th. Pyle carded a 9-over par 81 in the first round but responded with a 3-over par 75 in the second to record a 36-hole score of 12-over par 156.

Lousiville won the team competition convincingly with a 17-over par 593, 22 strokes better than second-place Eastern Michigan.

Maria Castellanos of Louisville notched a 1-over par 145 to claim the individual championship, defeating teammate Sara-Maude Janeau, who scored a 3-over par 147.

K-State’s Gianna Misenhelter finished in a tie for 43rd after carding a 17-over par 161, while Elise Houtz recorded a 24-over par 168 to finish in a tie for 71st.

K-State’s next action will come at the Big 12 Championships, April 22-24, at the Club at Old Hawthorne in Columbia, Mo.
