Wildcats in 11th after Day One

MESQUITE, Texas -- The Kansas State women's golf team is tied for 11th place after two rounds of play at the SMU/DAC Invitational at the par-72, 6,345-yard Dallas Athletic Club on Friday. The Wildcats finished the day at 41-over par 617.


"It was not a very good day for us," head coach Kristi Knight said. "However, I did like the effort and attitudes displayed."

Sophomore Madison Talley finished the day at 8-over par 152 and is tied for 32nd. Freshman Connie Jaffrey carded a 10-over par 154 and sits in a tie for 42nd place, while senior Olivia Eliasson is tied for 47th at 12-over par 156. Sophomore Katherine Gravel-Coursol is in 52nd at 13-over par 157, and senior Carly Ragains is tied for 72nd after carding a 19-over par 163.

"Tough days happen in golf and today was one of those," Knight said. "We have to take from the day what will help us for tomorrow."

Oklahoma State leads the team competition with a score of 3-over par 579 and is paced by Emma Broze, who is tied for second at 1-under par 143. On top of the individual leaderboard is Purdue's Aurora Kan, who finished the day at 3-under par 141.

The third round of the SMU/DAC Invitational will begin at 8 a.m., on Saturday. Live stats can be followed on www.golfstat.com and final results will be posted on www.kstatesports.com following the conclusion of the event.
