Lady Golfers Place Two In Top-20

WACO, Texas – Emily Houtz and Hanna Roos of the Kansas State women’s golf team each captured a top-20 performance among 89 competitors in the Baylor Spring Invitational at Twin Rivers Golf Club on Tuesday.

Houtz placed a career-best 19th after the conclusion of her third-round 6-over par 78. Houtz’s 54-hole score of 17-over par 233 ties the lowest of her career. This is the first top-20 finish of the junior’s campaign at K-State.

Tying for 20th was the Uppsala, Sweden native, Roos, who finished with a three-round total of 18-over par 234. Roos has now recorded a team-best four top-20 finishes this season.

Houtz’s and Roos’ scorecards contributed to K-State’s sixth-place team finish as the Cats totaled a three-round score of 939 (+75). The Wildcats notched a 27-over par 315 in the final round.

Baylor used the home-course advantage to win this year’s team competition with a total score of 904 (+40). The Bears bested the Sooners of Oklahoma by 11 strokes, 915 (+51).

Jaclyn Jansen of Baylor never surrendered the leaderboard in the third round to claim the individual title. Jansen shot a 36-hole score of 4-over par 220 and defeated second-place Mallory Fraiche of Arkansas-Little Rock by two strokes, 222 (+6).

Finishing in a tie for 23rd was Abbi Sunner. Sunner started the day in 24th and was able to move up one spot after carding a 6-over par 78 in the final round to total a tournament score of 235 (+19).

Morgan Moon carded a 54-hole score of 21-over par 237 to place in a tie for 30th.

Elise Houtz moved up three spots in the third round to place in a tie for 75th. She claimed a three-round score of 253 (+17).

Competing as an individual was Paige Osterloo who finished 85th. Osterloo compiled a 36-hole score of 47-over par 263.

This was the final regular season event for K-State and will now prepare for the Big 12 Championships in Norman, Okla., at Jimmie Austin Golf Course, April 23-25.
