Women's Golf Completes Round One of Big 12's

COLUMBIA, Mo. – Gianna Misenhelter recorded a 3-over par 75 in the first round of the Big 12 Championships to sit in a tie for 18th Friday. K-State is in 12th after recording a 21-over par 309 at the Club at Old Hawthorne.

 

Misenhelter recorded four birdies on the day, which was the third most recorded among the 60 individuals competing. The freshman will look to complete a solid second round and shoot for her fifth top-20 finish of the season.

 

“Gianna and Whitney (Pyle) did a great job today,” said head coach Knight. “We had some stretches of good golf but we just need a couple more scores.”

 

K-State’s score of 309 is seven strokes behind a three-way tie for ninth between, Kansas, Oklahoma State and Colorado.

 

Texas Tech leads after round one with a score of 6-over par 294. The Red Raiders are ahead of second place Texas, which recorded an 8-over par 296.

 

Five individuals are tied for first with a tally of 1-under par 71.

 

K-State’s Whitney Pyle shot a 4-over par 76 in the first round to sit in a tie for 30th. Pyle finished with back-to-back birdies.

 

In a tie for 49th is Ami Storey. She notched a 7-over par 79 in the first 18. Also in a tie for 49th is Paige Osterloo, who recorded a 7-over par 79 as well.

 

Hanna Roos shot a 14-over par 86 in Friday’s first round to sit in 60th-place.
