Wildcats Improve Scores at Big 12 Championships

COLUMBIA, Mo. – The Kansas State women’s golf team shot a 15-over par 303 in the second round of the Big 12 Championship Saturday, improving its total by six strokes from the first round of play on Friday. K-State will head into Sunday’s final round at the Club at Old Hawthorne in 12th place.

The Wildcats' two-round total of 36-over par 612 is just five strokes back of 11th-place Kansas, which has tallied a 36-hole score of 31-over par 607 in the first two rounds.

Ami Storey shaved five strokes off of her first-round score in round two with a 2-over par 74. Storey began the day in a tie for 49th and is now in a tie for 42nd.

Texas has grabbed the lead in team competition through two rounds with a score of 7-over par 583. The Longhorns lead second-place Iowa State by two strokes.

Texas’ Madison Pressel leads all 60 individuals with a 36-hole score of 7-under par 137. Pressel is six strokes ahead of a six-way tie for second.

K-State’s Gianna Misenhelter is in a tie for 28th after recording a 3-over par 75 in the second round. Misenhelter has a 36-hole tally of 6-over par 150.

The Wildcat that showed the most improvement in Saturday's second round was Hanna Roos. The sophomore shot a second-round 3-over par 75, improving 11 strokes from her first round score of 14-over par 86. Roos is in a tie for 59th.

Paige Osterloo put up another 7-over par 79 in the second round, matching her first 18-holes to gather a score of 14-over par 158. The junior will be in 57th place at the start of Sunday's final round.

Whitney Pyle has notched a two-round score of 12-over par 156 and is in a tie for 50th. She carded an 8-over par 80 in the second round.

K-State’s third and final round of the Big 12 Championship will begin with 8:00 a.m. shotgun start on Sunday. Live scoring can be followed at www.golfstat.com. Results of the Big 12 Championship will be posted at www.kstatesports.com as soon as they become available.
