Talley Finishes Strong at NCAA Regional

SAN ANTONIO, Texas -- Kansas State women's golfer Madison Talley carded an even-par performance though all three rounds to finish in a tie for 23rd at the 2015 NCAA San Antonio Regional at the par-72, 6,350-yard Briggs Ranch Golf Course.

Talley was the first player in program history to earn an NCAA Regional individual bid, while it was the first time the Wildcats were represented at the NCAA Regionals since the team made an appearance in 2004.

"She had a great event," head coach Kristi Knight said. "She showed guts today, and after bogies on one and two she came back strong. (Assistant Coach) Stew (Burke) did a good job with her this week."

Talley finished the event by carding 10 birdies overall. She battled back from three bogies on the front nine to finish even to par in the round. Talley's even-par performance was the 10th time this season she has broken even in a round.

Moving up the leaderboard in the final round, Baylor won the team championship with a score of 22-under par 842, three shots ahead of second-place UCLA. Baylor was paced by Haley Davis, who kept her lead from round two to win the individual championship with a 16-under par 200.

The top six teams and three individuals not on an advancing team will compete in the 2015 NCAA Championship, held May 22-27.

Talley finished the season with an overall stroke average of 73.78. The Wildcats will return three players from this year's squad who competed in every event during the 2014-15 season.
