Ragains in Second After Day One of Chip-N-Club

Carly Ragains

LINCOLN, Neb. -- Kansas State sophomore Carly Ragains fired an even-par 72 in the second round Monday of the Chip-N-Club Invitational to jump into a tie for second place at the par 72, 6,075-yard Country Club of Lincoln.

Ragains, who carded a six-over par 78 in the first round, improved 17 spots on the leaderboard and trails Amy Anderson of North Dakota State by three strokes entering Tuesday's final round.

"We had an up and down day, but Carly and Whitney played a solid round two," said head coach Kristi Knight.

The Wildcats recorded a 36-hole score of 49-over par 625, thanks in part to a second-round best score of 309, to sit in fifth place after day one. K-State enters the final round just one stroke out of a two-way tie for third.

"The course played tough," Knight said. "We had the lowest second-round score of 309, which tells you how tough the conditions for scoring were. Tomorrow is another day, and we are in a very good position to finish well."

Junior Gianna Misenhelter sits in a tie for 13th, carding a 36-hole score of 11-over par 155. Whitney Pyle bettered her first-round score by nine strokes in the second round to earn a 36-hole score of 13-over par 157 and sit in a tie for 20th.

Olivia Eliasson notched a 19-over par 163 to sit in a tie for 38th. Two strokes behind Eliasson is freshman Scotland Preston, who is competing as an individual and sits in a tie for 41st. Rounding out the K-State scoring lineup, Hanna Roos tallied a 24-over par 168 to sit in a tie for 51st.

Missouri currently sits on the top of the leaderboard at 35-over par 611, three strokes ahead of second-place SMU.
