Wildcats Complete First Round at Dale McNamara

First Round Results

TULSA, Okla
. – Kansas State women’s golfer Gianna Misenhelter carded a 2-over par 74 to sit in a tie for 14th, while the Wildcats are currently in 11th place after scoring a 23-over par 311 in the first round of the Dale McNamara Invitational at the par 72, 6,450-yard Patriot Golf Course.

Misenhelter was solid on the day as she collected two birdies, and teammate Whitney Pyle was right on her heels with a 3-over par 75 to tie for 19th as both look start off the year with a top-20 finishes.

“It was the first round of the season, so there is a lot of room for improvement, but after the first round Gianna and Whitney were solid,” said coach Kristi Knight.

K-State’s score of 311 is 11 strokes behind a two-way tie for fourth with Iowa State and Tulsa.

“We had a good practice after the round, and tomorrow is an opportunity for a better day and to move up the boards,” Knight said.

Arizona State sits in first place after round one at 8-under par 280. The Sun Devils are 14 strokes ahead of second place Oklahoma State, which carded a 6-over par 294.

Arizona State’s Giulia Molinaro is currently in first place with a 5-under par 67. Mulinaro’s teammates Justine Lee and Daniela Ordonez are in a tie for second place with a 2-under par 70.

K-State’s Hannah Roos carded a 7-over par 79 and sits at a nine-way tie for 49th. Ami Storey notched an 11-over par 83, while Olivia Eliasson shot a 14-over par 86.
