LINCOLN, Neb. Paige Osterloo fired a 1-under par 72 to earn a second-place finish and lead the Kansas State women’s golf team to a share for second place in team competition at the Chip-N-Club Invitational, held at the par 72, 6,214-yard Wilderness Ridge Golf Course Tuesday.

Tuesday’s action started three holes into the Wildcats’ second round, which was suspended Monday due to inclement weather and turned the tournament into a 36-hole event. K-State began the day one shot back of first place and carded a 12-over par 300 in the second round to put the Cats in contention at 23-over par 599. However, Arkansas State shot an invitational best 292 (+4) in round one, paired with a 306 (+18) on Tuesday, to claim the team title and keep the Wildcats in a tie for second.

K-State placed four individuals in the top 20, including three in the top 10. The Wildcats were matched on the leaderboard by Kansas, while they were able to defeat Big 12 foes Missouri, which placed fifth, and host school Nebraska, which came in 13th.

The Wildcats were powered by Osterloo’s under-par performance in the final round. The junior’s two-round score of 1-over par 145 propelled her to a career best second-place finish and her first in the top five. Osterloo’s first nine holes of the second round brought two birdies and one bogey to put her 1-under at the turn. She was able to par the next nine holes to secure the second-place spot.

Joining Osterloo in the top 10 were Whitney Pyle and Ami Storey as each tied for eighth at 5-over par 149. Pyle recorded a second-round score of 4-over par 76 en route to the best finish of the sophomore’s career and her first top 20 performance. Storey, who competed in the event as an individual, collected the fifth top 20 finish of her career.

Also finishing in the top 20 was freshman Gianna Misenhelter, who carded a second-round score of 5-over par 77. That, paired with a 75 (+3) in round one, gave her a 36-hole score of 152 to tie for 16th.

Capturing the fifth top-20 performance of her young career was Hanna Roos. The sophomore finished in a tie for 20th after recording a two-round score of 9-over par 153.

Rounding out K-State’s lineup was Emily Houtz, who carded an 18-over par 162 to tie for 71st.

K-State will be back in action September 27-28 at the Marilynn Smith/Sunflower Invitational at Alvamar Golf Course in Lawrence, Kan.
