TULSA, Okla. – The Kansas State women’s golf team recorded the fifth-best score of the final round on Wednesday as the Wildcats moved up three spots on the leaderboard to finish seventh at the Dale McNamara Invitational held at the par 72, 6,450-yard Patriot Golf Course.

The Wildcats carded a 13-over par 301 to finish with a three-day total of 46-over par 910. K-State bettered its 10th place finish in the same event last season.

Hannah Roos led K-State’s charge on Wednesday as she sunk five birdies en route to a 1-over par 73. She moved up 11 spots on the leaderboard to tie for 26th at 10-over par 226.


Gianna Misenhelter also tied for 26th, carding a 2-over par 75 on the final day of play. Whitney Pyle finished strong as well with a 1-over par 73 to earn a tie for 37th at 14-over par 230. 


“Our 301 score was pretty solid,” said head coach Kristi Knight. “We moved up to seventh, which is a strong start to the season. There is room for improvement, but overall we have good things to build on.”


Oklahoma State finished at the top of the leaderboard, five strokes ahead of Arizona State. The Cowgirls shot a 13-under par 275 on Wednesday to finish at 4-over par 868 overall. 


Arizona State’s Giulia Molinaro’s solid play throughout the week helped her claim the individual title. Molinaro concluded play with a 6-under par 210, four strokes ahead of second-place Jayde Panos of Oklahoma State.


Olivia Eliasson notched an 8-over par 80 in the final round to finish in 58th place. Right behind Eliasson was Ami Storey, who shot a 9-over par 81 to earn a tie for 59th.


The Wildcats are back in action Sept. 26-27, when they host the Marilynn Smith/Sunflower Invitational at Colbert Hills. It is the only home tournament of the season for K-State, and the event is free to the public.
