Wildcats Sit in Ninth in Suspended Second Round

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - The Kansas State women's golf team sits in ninth place after the weather suspended the second round of the Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational at the par-73, 6,192-yard UNM Championship Course on Monday. The Wildcats sit at 19-over par 555 at the end of play on Monday.
 
"The ladies hung in there in round one," K-State head coach Kristi Knight said. "Madison (Talley) was solid throughout the day."
 
Talley is currently at 1-over par in the second round and 1-over par overall as she shot an even-par 73 in round one. Heading into play on Tuesday, Talley is tied for 12th.
 
Playing as an individual, Wildcat senior Carly Ragains is currently at 5-over par 126 and tied for 30th. Senior Olivia Eliasson, sophomore Katherine Gravel-Coursol and freshman Connie Jaffrey are each tied for 39th at a 6-over par, while freshman Chandler Gallagher is tied for 80th at 15-over par 149.   
 
Northwestern leads the team competition with a score of 5-under par 516 and is paced by Suc Tangkamolprasert, who is tied for first with a 6-under par.
 
"The delay may have come at a good time for us," Knight said. "We were on a difficult stretch and had dropped a shot or two, but all in all, I am proud of the effort today."
 
The conclusion of the second round of the Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Inviational will begin at 7:45 a.m. (MST), with round three immediately following. Live stats can be followed on www.birdiefire.com and final results will be posted on www.kstatesports.com following the conclusion of the event.
