K-State in Third Heading into Final Round

LAWRENCE, Kan. - The Kansas State women's golf team sits in third place after Monday's first and second rounds of the Marilynn Smith/Sunflower Invitational at the par-72, 6,636-yard Alvamar Golf Course.

Backed by Gianna Misenhelter and Whitney Pyle's 6-over par 150, the Wildcats have notched a 36-hole score of 43-over par 619, two shots behind second-place Arkansas State.

The duo currently sits in a tie for seventh, four shots behind second-place Yupaporn Kawinpakorn of Kansas and seven shots behind first place Abigail Laker of Arkansas State.

Host school Kansas sits on top of the leaderboard with a 36-hole score of 25-over par 601.

"It was a bit of an up and down day," said head coach Kristi Knight. "We hung in there in round one. Gianna and Whitney played solid. Despite not quite hitting on all cylinders, we have a great opportunity tomorrow."

Olivia Eliasson carded a 36-hole score of 11-over par 155 to sit in a tie for 11th. The sophomore looks to continue her successful start and earn her first career top-20 finish.

Competing as an individual, Hanna Roos sits in a tie for 29th after a 36-hole score of 16-over par 160.

Scotland Preston notched a 20-over par 164, and one stroke behind Preston is Carly Ragains.

Also competing as an individual, Laura Hildebrandt carded a 36-hole score of 32-over par 176.

Results of the Marilynn Smith/Sunflower Invitational will be posted at www.k-statesports.com at the conclusion of play on Tuesday.
