LAWRENCE, Kan. – The Kansas State women’s golf team had three golfers earn top-10 finishes as it captured a second-consecutive top-five showing by placing third at the Marilynn Smith/Sunflower Invitational Tuesday at the par-72, 6,366-yard Alvamar Golf Course.

Whitney Pyle, Gianna Misenhelter and Olivia Eliasson led the Wildcats as each earned their first top-10 finish of the fall slate. The trio helped K-State put together a 54-hole score of 64-over par 928, just one stroke behind Arkansas State for a tie for second place.

Pyle notched a 54-hole score of 10-over par 226 to finish in sixth, marking the third time in her career she has placed in the top-10. Misenhelter was three strokes behind her at 13-over par 229 to finish in eighth, while Eliasson captured her first career top-10 finish as she scored a 16-over par 232.

“Today was a good effort,” head coach Kristi Knight said. “We were unable to take advantage of our good shots the last two days, but the ladies did their best.”

Hanna Roos, who competed as an individual, was two shots shy of a top-10 finish as she carded an 18-over par 234 to tie for 11th.

Carly Ragains bettered her score by seven strokes from the second round, finishing in a tie for 39th at 26-over par 242.

Scotland Preston notched a 42-over par 248, and Laura Hildebrandt – also competing as an individual – turned in a 47-over par 263.

Host school Kansas won the team competition by 21 shots, finishing with a 54-hole score of 42-over par 906. Arkansas State’s Abigail Laker earned individual medalist honors by carding a 3-under par 213, eight strokes ahead of T. Boonraksasat of Kansas.

The Wildcats will be back in action next week, Oct.1-2, when they travel to Columbia, Mo., to compete in the Johnie Imes Invitational.
