COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Kansas State women's golf team narrowly missed a school record as the Wildcats climbed two spots on the leaderboard to finish second in the final round of the Johnie Imes Invitational at the par 72, 6,204-yard Club at Old Hawthorne on Tuesday.

Kansas State carded the best overall score on the day at 1-under par 287, its lowest gross score for a single round since a school-record 286 during the third round of the Edwin Watts Collegiate on Nov. 5, 2002.

The Wildcats finished with a 54-hole score of 22-over par 886, finishing seven strokes behind team champion Texas State, and seven strokes ahead of Florida International.

"We played the course really well," said head coach Kristi Knight. "We were in control of our emotions, and there was a lot of good golf. Our play showed that we learned from our mistakes in the previous rounds."

Kansas State had four of its five members of the scoring lineup finish in the top-20.
