K-State Takes Over Team Lead After Day Two

DENVER, Colo. - The Kansas State women's golf team pulled ahead of in-state rival Kansas and moved into first place after the second round of the Ron Moore Women's Intercollegiate on Saturday at the par-72, 6,457-yard Highland Ranch Golf Club. The Wildcats finished the day shooting a 7-over par 583.
 
"The team battled well today and got everything out of each round," K-State head coach Kristi Knight. "Olivia (Eliasson) played great and we are proud of all the ladies' efforts. We are looking forward to tomorrow."
 
Eliasson led the Wildcats with a 1-under par 143 and sits in second place at the end of play Saturday. Joining Eliasson in the top five is freshman Connie Jaffrey who currently sits in fourth place after carding an even-par 144, while sophomore Madison Talley sits in seventh place after a 3-over par 147. Senior Carly Ragains' 6-over par 150 put her in a tie for 13th place, and sophomore Katherine Gravel-Coursol is tied for 17th place after a 7-over par 151 to round out the scoring lineup. Competing as an individual, junior Scotland Preston is tied for 31st after carding an 11-over par 155.  
Kansas trails the Wildcats by two strokes in the team standings after a 9-over par 585. 
 
The final round of the Ron Moore Women's Intercollegiate will begin at 8:30 a.m. (MT) Sunday. Live stats can be followed on www.birdiefire.com and final results will be posted on www.kstatesports.comfollowing the conclusion of the event.
