IOWA CITY, Iowa - The Kansas State women's golf team sits in ninth place after Saturday's first and second rounds of the Diane Thomason Invitational at Finkbine Golf Course. As a team, the Wildcats shot 621 (+45) and enter the final round seven shots out of a tie for sixth place.

Senior Gianna Misenhelter enters Sunday's final round tied for sixth after carding a 6-over par 150. Joining Misenhelter in the top-15 was sophomore Scotland Preston who moved up the leaderboard in the second round to finish the day at a tie for 12th with an 8-over par 152 during his season debut in the scoring lineup.

"I was impressed with Gianna's and Preston's play today," said head coach Kristi Knight. "We had a tough time getting four good scores together to move up the leaderboard."

Juniors Carly Ragains and Oliva Eliasson both shot over their stroke average and failed to enter the final round inside the top 40 for the first time this season. Ragains carded a 13-over par 158 and enters Sunday's final round at a tie for 44th. Eliasson was unable to break 80 in both rounds and finished with 19-over par 163.

"Tomorrow we need to come out strong," Knight said. "We can still pick up some good wins and move up the leaderboard."

Illinois' Stephanie Miller leads the individual standings at even-par 144. The Illini lead the team competition by one stroke over Kansas at 24-over par 600.

The third and final round of the Diane Thomason Invitational will begin Sunday morning at 8:30 a.m. Live results of the tournament can be viewed at www.golfstat.com, while a complete recap will be posted at kstatesports.com following the conclusion of the event.
