K-State in Ninth at UNLV

LAS VEGAS, Nev.—The Kansas State women’s golf team sits in ninth place after Sunday’s first round of the UNLV Showdown at the par 72, 6,230-yard Stallion Mountain Golf Club.

The Wildcats notched a team score of 15-over par 308, 11 strokes behind Wisconsin and Indiana, which lead the team competition following an 18-hole score of 4-over par 292. 

Indiana’s Elizabeth Tong leads the individual competition at 2-under par 70, one stroke ahead of second-place Ally McDonald of Mississippi State and two strokes ahead of a four-way tie for third. 

Sophomore Carly Ragains was solid on the day as she led the Wildcats with an 18-hole score of 2-over par 74 to sit in a tie for 13th. Ragains is coming off an 11th-place finish at last week’s Susie Maxwell Berning Classic. Two strokes behind Ragains was Whitney Pyle, who currently sits in a tie for 29th

Hanna Roos turned in a 6-over par 78 to sit in a tie for 49th, while Olivia Eliasson and Gianna Misenhelter finished the first round with an 18-hole score of 8-over par 80 and enter Monday’s second round tied for 62nd
