Misenhelter, Wildcats Finish Fall in Sixth at Palmetto

Kiawah, S.C. - The Kansas State women's golf team and Gianna Misenhelter both earned a sixth-place finish at the Palmetto Invitational at the par 72, 5,907-yard Oak Point Golf Course with a great third round Monday morning.

The Wildcats turned in a final score of 43-over par 907, thanks to a final-round socre of 12-over par 300.

"The team has shown the ability to climb the leaderboard in the final round, which is a great quality," head coach Kristi Knight said. "It is hard to believe the fall season is over, but the team had a solid season overall. We look forward to the spring and the opportunity to improve."

Misenhelter tallied a 2-under par 70 in the second round to earn her fifth under-par score. She shot a 1-over par 73 in the final round and finished with a 2-over par 218 to notch her third top-10 finish of the fall season. The sophomore was one stroke away from finishing in a tie for third.

Ami Storey was solid in the third round, carding a career-best 18-hole score of even par 72. She finished in a tie for 27th with a 54-hole score of 8-over par 226.

"We battled the entire event. Gianna was solid each round, Ami had a great round today and Kristen (Dorsey) stepped up in the final round as well."

Whitney Pyle had a consistent tournament, finishing in a tie for 35th with a 10-over par 228.

Kristen Dorsey improved each round and finished strong in the final round with a 4-over par 76. Dorsey tallied a 54-hole score of 19-over par 237 to earn a tie for 62nd.

Paige Osterloo notched a 23-over par to finish in a tie for 71st.

North Carolina-Greensboro finished at the top of the leaderboard at 11-over par 875, seven strokes ahead of second-place Maryland and nine shots in front of East Tennessee State, which finished third.

UNCG's Fanny Cnops was consistent in each round, finishing in first place with an impressive 7-under par 207.

The Wildcats will be back in action in the spring when they travel to Peoria, Ariz., for the Westbrook Spring Invitational, Feb. 26-27.
