K-State Stays Steady in Round Two

KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. - The Kansas State women's golf team held on to its fifth-place spot on the leaderboard during the second round of the Palmetto Intercollegiate on Monday at the par-72, 5,972-yard Turtle Point Golf Course. The Wildcats finished the day shooting a 13-over par 301 and hold a 36-hole score of 23-over par 599 heading into Tuesday's final round.

"It was a good round for Connie (Jaffrey)," K-State head coach Kristi Knight said. "Overall, the team has been a little off, but that is all part of the game. The team is competing hard and is looking forward to tomorrow."

Sophomore Madison Talley carded a 2-over par 146 and sits in 13th place. Joining Talley in the top 15 is Jaffrey, who carded a team low round of even-par 72 in round two to sit tied for 14th with a 3-over par 147. Jaffrey moved 20 spots up the leaderboard as she was tied for 34th after round one.

Senior Carly Ragains sits in a tie for 47th with a 9-over par 153. Sophomore Katherine Gravel-Coursol ended the day with a 10-over par 154 and is tied for 54th, and senior Olivia Eliasson completed play on Monday in a tie for 66th at 12-over par 156.

Coastal Carolina kept its place on top of the team leaderboard in day two despite carding a 2-over par 290 on Monday. CCU is at 4-under par 572 and is paced by Malene Krolboll Hansen and Lena Schaeffner, who are tied for second. The duo is two strokes behind College of Charleston's CC Buford, who is atop the individual leaderboard at 5-under par 139.

The third round of the Palmetto Intercollegiate will start at 8:45 a.m. (ET) on Tuesday. Live stats can be followed on www.golfstat.com and final results will be posted on www.kstatesports.com following the conclusion of play.
