Women's Golf Shows Improved Scores at Alamo

Results Through Two Rounds

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The Kansas State women’s golf team shaved seven strokes off of its first round score on Monday and sits in 12th with one round to go at the Alamo Invitational held at Briggs Ranch Golf Course.

Four of the five Wildcats in the lineup improved their score in the second round, totaling a seven stroke difference to finish at 15-over par 303. The Wildcats will go into the final round at 37-over par 613, four strokes behind 11th place Central Arkansas.

“It was a little better today,” said head coach Kristi Knight. “I am proud of the girls’ effort and spirit. We are not making many putts right now, so hopefully more will fall tomorrow. Paige (Osterloo) finished her round strong today.”

Paige Osterloo and Gianna Misenhelter had the best rounds for K-State on the day, carding a pair of 2-over par 74’s. Osterloo’s 36-hole score of 152 (+8) has her in tie for 43rd, and Misenhelter sits in a tie for 27th with a 6-over par 150. The two shaved a combined six strokes off of their first round scores.

No. 38 TCU took over the top spot from No. 18 Colorado in team competition with a 7-under par 281 in the second round. The Horned Frogs enter Tuesday’s final round at 1-under par 575.

TCU’s Brooke Beeler owns the lead after 36-holes of individual competition with a score of 7-under par 137, a one stroke advantage on second place Jessica Wallace of Colorado.

K-State’s Whitney Pyle is in a tie for 50th with a two-round total of 10-over par 154. Ami Storey moved up seven spots on the leaderboard to a tie for 61st after a second-round score of 4-over par 76, six stokes better then her opening round of 10-over par 82.

Improving four strokes in the second round was Elise Houtz, who carded a 7-over par 79 to put her in a tie for 70th.

K-State will begin the third and final round of the Alamo Invitational at 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday. Live scoring can be followed at www.golfstat.com and results will be posted at www.kstatesports.com after the conclusion of the round.
