SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The Kansas State women’s golf team wrapped up its fall portion of the 2010-11 season Tuesday with a 14th-place finish at the Alamo Invitational held at Briggs Ranch Golf Course.

Low scores were tough to come by in the final round as all 14 teams recorded higher scores then they did in the second round. The Wildcats carded a final-round 35-over par 323 to total a three-day score of 72-over par 936. K-State was edged by UCF by two strokes, 934 (+70).

TCU shot 21 strokes higher then its previous round in the final 18 holes but held on to the top spot in the team competition to claim the trophy. The 38th-ranked Horned Frogs finished with a final total of 13-over par 877.

Contributing to the team title and winning the individual crown was TCU’s Brooke Beeler with a three-round score of 4-under par 212. Beeler edged out second-place Jessica Wallace of Colorado by one stroke, who carded a 3-under par 213.

K-State’s Paige Osterloo moved up eight spots on the leaderboard during the final round to finish in a tie for 35th. She started the final round even through eight holes but found three bogeys and a double bogey in the closing holes to tally a 5-over par 77 in the concluding round. The junior turned in a 54-hole score of 13-over par 229.

Whitney Pyle finished in a tie for 49th with a three-round total of 16-over par 232. She notched a 6-over par 78 in the final 18-holes.

Gianna Misenhelter missed the top-20 for the first time this season after a 25-over par 241 performance, finishing in a tie for 61st. Ami Storey finished in 67th with a final tally of 25-over par 241.

Elise Houtz concluded the Wildcats’ scoring with an 85 (+13) in the third round to give her a score of 31-over par 247 through 54-holes and a 71st place finish.

The Wildcats will continue action in the spring, Feb. 27-March 1, at the Sir Pizza Cards Challenge in Weston, Fla.
