K-State Women's Golfers in Seventh after 18 Holes in South Carolina

Christine Boucher is tied for fifth after one round at the Edwin Watts/Palmetto Intercollegiate

Kiawah Island, S.C. - The Kansas State women's golf team, ranked No. 45 nationally by Golfstat, shot a round of 314 Monday and sits in seventh place after one round at the Edwin Watts/Palmetto Intercollegiate in Kiawah Island, S.C.

Sophomore Christine Boucher, who is ranked No. 41 individually in this week's Golfstat rankings, shot a 2-over-par 74 on the par-72, 5,873-yard Kiawah Island Oak Point Golf Course and sits in a tie for fifth place.

Junior Elise Carpentier is in a tie for 22nd place after posting a round of 78, while senior Edie Murdoch, who shot an 80, is tied for 38th. Junior Miranda Smith and freshman Sarah Heffel round out the top five for the Wildcats and sit in 50th and 75th place, respectively.

Louisville leads the 16-team tournament with a score of 296. Tulane (304) and Memphis (305) round out the top three. Louisville's Jessica Kell is in first place in the individual standings after shooting a 2-under-par 70.

The Wildcats will finish the 54-hole tournament Tuesday with an 8 a.m. shotgun start.
