TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Led by junior Olivia Eliasson, the Kansas State women's golf team moved up the leaderboard on the second day of the Florida State Matchup at the par 72, 7,172-yard Southwood Golf Club on Saturday.

The Wildcats fired a 16-over par 304 on day two -- 11 strokes better than Friday's first round -- to move into ninth place in front of Florida Gulf Coast and Kansas. The Wildcats tallied six birdies on the day and head into Sunday's final round in fourth place of the match-up competition with partner Mississippi State.

"We were a little better today," head coach Kristi Knight said. "Still not where we want to be but I am hoping for more progress tomorrow."

Each golfer in the Wildcat scoring lineup improved on their round-one scores but none more so than Eliasson, who carded two birdies en route to the 10th lowest overall round of day two, a 1-over par 73. Eliasson moved up 15 spots on the leaderboard and currently sits tied for 41st.

"Oliva (Eliasson) focused on two areas with her practice and it paid off," Knight said. "She did a great job today."

Junior Carly Ragains tallied two birdies on the front nine on her way to a 6-over par 80 and sits in a tie for 43rd place, just one stroke behind Eliasson.

Sophomore Scotland Preston moved up nine spots after carding a 4-over par 76. Preston was able to stay close to even with her consistent play, carding seven pars in a row on the front nine.

Still leading the Wildcats in the individual standings is freshman Katherine Gravel-Coursol who, despite a rough 9-over par 81 on Saturday, sits in a tie for 36th place heading into the final round.

Senior Gianna Misenhelter had one birdie and moved up four places on the leaderboard with a 5-over par 77, which was five strokes better than her first round.

Florida State's Matilda Castren leads the individual competition at 8-under par, while South Carolina remains in the team lead at 3-over par.

The Wildcats begin the final round of play on Sunday morning at 8:30 a.m. (EST). Live stats of the Florida State Matchup can be followed at www.golfstat.com and a recap of the tournament will be posted on www.kstatesports.com at the conclusion of play on Sunday.
