MANHATTAN, Kan.—The Kansas State women’s golf team heads west to Peoria, Ariz., this weekend to participate in its first event of the spring slate at the Westbrook Spring Invitational Feb., 24-25, at the par 72, 6,269-yard Westbrook Village Golf Club.

The tournament will consist of 36 holes on Sunday followed by 18 holes on Monday with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. (MT) each day.

“The ladies are looking forward to competing,” said head coach Kristi Knight. “Several of the ladies played the Vistas course last year and had success. As always, a calm confident demeanor is necessary.”

The Wildcat scoring lineup will be led by senior Whitney Pyle and junior Gianna Misenhelter, along with freshman Scotland Preston, senior Hanna Roos and sophomore Olivia Eliasson. Sophomore Carly Ragains will also compete as an individual.

Pyle looks to continue her successful fall slate that included three top-20 finishes, two top-10 finishes and one top-5 finish. The senior competed in all five events and had a team-best 75.87 stroke average. Misenhelter also looks to continue her successful run this fall as she participated in all five events and had the third-best stroke average on the team at 77.33.

Roos and Eliasson also competed in all five events in the fall with both earning their best finishes at the Marilynn Smith/Sunflower Invitational. The Westbrook Spring Invitational marks Preston’s second time competing in the scoring lineup as she made her first career appearance at the Marilynn Smith/Sunflower Invitational where she placed 46th.

This is the first time this season Ragains will compete as an individual. The sophomore scored in all five events in the fall and had the second-best stroke average on the team at 76.97.

The Wildcats will be joined in the field by Arkansas, Colorado State, Eastern Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Mississippi State, Nebraska, Texas Tech, Washington, Washington State and Wisconsin.

This is the second consecutive year K-State will compete in the Westbrook Spring Invitational, as the Wildcats placed fourth last year with a team score of 10-over par 874.
