K-State in Top Five After Day One

Rio Verde, Ariz. The Kansas State women’s golf team had a strong showing in its first day of the Duramed Collegiate Invitational, currently tied at 5th place. The Wildcats currently sit at 27-over par, carding a 311 through round one.

 

Kansas sits comfortably atop the leader board, leading second place Toledo by 10 strokes. Kansas is shooting a 10-over par 294 for the tournament and has three players in the top five. Toledo currently holds a four-stroke lead over Northern Arizona for second place.

 

Kalynd Carson of Kansas and Michelle Hui of Toledo are tied for first place through the first round. Hanna Ek of Akron along with Meghan Gockel of Kansas sit only one shot back at 2-over par.

 

Junior Abbi Sunner is pacing the Wildcats at 4-over par 75 through the first round. Freshman Ami Storey is close behind at 6-over par.

 

Other K-State players include Emily Houtz at 8-over par, Morgan Moon at 9-over and Elise Houtz at 10-over.

 

The Wildcats will resume action tomorrow at 8 a.m. and conclude the tournament on Sunday at 8 a.m. Live stats are available at www.golfstat.com.
