Lady Golfers Improve Scores

 

Orange Park, Fla. - The Kansas State women's golf team improved its score by seven strokes by carding a 306 (+18) in the second round of the Eagle Landing Invitational Monday.

Coach Kristi Knight was looking for improvement from her scoring lineup in round two and she got it from four of the five golfers. The second round 306 (+18) combined with a 313 (+25) from the first round gives K-State a score of 619 (+43) through two rounds and puts the cats in 10th place.

Central Arkansas continues to lead the team competition after shooting a 297 (+9) in the second round. Three strokes behind the Bears is South Florida, which has a two-round total of 599 (+23). Leading the way for individual scores is Illinois' Hailey Koschman, who is 5-under par for the competition and five strokes ahead of second-place.

Leading the way for Kansas State was Morgan Moon, who shot a 1-over par 73 to give her a season best 36-hole score of 150. The Amarillo, Texas, native improved four strokes from round-one's 77. Moon was 3-under par after 11 holes but was unable to hold her score in the red bogeying four out of the remaining seven holes. The senior sits in a tie for 10th.

Another big improvement came from junior Elise Houtz, who carded a 6-over par 78, to put her in a tie for 74th. Houtz improved eight strokes from round one and now has a two-round total of 162.

Abbi Sunner tallied a second-round score 76, shaving one stroke off her first-round total. The senior sits in a tie for 27th.

Sophomore Ami Storey also improved by one stroke, carding a 8-over par 80. Storey's two-round total of 161 puts her in a tie for 70th.

Rounding out the lineup for team competition was Hanna Roos who shot a 7-over par 79, putting her in a tie for 50th.

Competing as an individual, Paige Osterloo shot an 8-over par 80 for the second time in the event, to put her in a tie for 64th.

K-State's third round of the Eagle Landing Invitational will start at 7:00 a.m. (CT) on hole No. 10. Osterloo will tee of at 7:40 (CT) on hole No. 1.
