Wildcats in Seventh at Mountain View

TUCSON, Ariz. The Kansas State women’s golf team played a solid first day at the Mountain View Collegiate with rounds of 300-289589. With a 589 opening day the Wildcats finished in 7th place.


Nebraska leads all teams with rounds of 287-285572 (-4). Indiana’s Elaine Harris and Oklahoma’s Kendall Dye finished tied for the lead, they both shot opening day 139’s (-5).


Kansas State senior Katy Heffel had another strong outing at the Mountain View Collegiate with a first day 75-70145 (+1) to finish tied for 14th. Heffel’s second round 70 is a career best round for the Wildcat, beating her previous career best 71 which she shot at the 2005 Mountain View Collegiate.


Kansas State junior Michelle Regan carded a first day 73-73146 (+2) to finish tied for 20th.


Junior Hailey Mireles carded an opening day 76-71147 (+3) to finish tied for 26th.


Other Wildcats in the field included senior Helene Robert who shot a 76-71147 (+3) to finish tied for 56th. Freshman Abbi Sunner carded a 76-80156 (+12), tying for 80th.


Kansas State freshman Morgan Moon, playing in just her third event of the year carded a career best 72-75147, tying for 26th while playing as an individual. Her previous best round was an 82 at the Baja Classic.


The Wildcats will play one more round tomorrow, teeing off at 8 a.m. Results will be posted as soon as they become available.
