Wildcats Head to Arizona

MANHATTAN, Kan. -- The Kansas State women’s golf team is Arizona-bound this weekend as they’ll play in the Mountain View Intercollegiate in Tucson, Ariz., on Saturday and Sunday, March 29-30. Play starts each day at 9 a.m. (CDT) with shotgun starts. Seniors Michelle Regan and Kali Quick had top-20 appearances the last time out, and the Wildcats will look to add solid scores to that to continue their history of success down in Tucson.

Mountain View GC
The Mountain View Golf Course at MountainView Country Club is a par 72, 6,178-yard course in Tucson, Ariz. Designed by Gary Panks, the course was built in 1997 and has hosted the Mountain View Intercollegiate since 1999.

A Look at the Field
The Wildcats hold a 7-30 record again the Mountain View Intercollegiate field. East Carolina is Golfweek’s highest-ranked team at 21, with Louisville not far behind at 27. Of the nine Big 12 teams in the tournament, Oklahoma has the highest ranking at 40. Every team in the field is in Golfweek’s Top 100.

Last Time Out
The Kansas State women’s golf team landed two players in the top 20 and finished the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational at the University of Texas Golf Club at 88-over par 664. The Wildcats shot a 329 on Monday before Tuesday’s round was canceled due to the weather conditions. Led by seniors Kali Quick and Michelle Regan, K-State fired a 335 in its final round.

Quick brought home her fourth top 20 of the season by finishing in a tie for 13th with four other individuals. She carded a pair of 79s to finish at 14-over par 158. This marked Quick’s first top 20 this year where she didn’t place in the top five as well. The senior was just one stroke from a top-10 showing and two strokes from finishing in the top five.

Regan also finished in the top 20 for the fourth time this season. She shot 83-76159 (+15) for the two days and landed in a tie for 18th.

Mountain View Kind To Cats
K-State has enjoyed its fair share of success in the history of the Mountain View Intercollegiate tournament.

The Wildcats won the team title in the 2002 tournament with a two-round total of 597. K-State has also had two individual winners of the Mountain View. Elise Carpentier won first in 2001 with rounds of 70 and 75. Then, in 2003, Christine Boucher brought home individual honors with a three-round total of 217.

K-State has four team appearances in the top-five in the nine previous Mountain View Intercollegiates. Current Wildcat Michelle Regan is tied with three others for the lowest round in tournament history with her 68 in the third round of the 2006 tournament.
