Wildcats Close Out Regular Season

MANHATTAN, Kan. - The Kansas State women’s golf team will close out its regular season in Columbus, Ohio, as they take part in the Lady Buckeye Invitational at the Scarlet Course. The tournament will kick off with a shotgun start on Saturday at 8 a.m. The first two rounds will be played on Saturday and the tournament will conclude with a shotgun start on Sunday at 8:30 a.m.


LAST TOURNAMENT:  K-State will play in its final regular season tournament this weekend and will look to finish strong heading into Big 12 tournament play. The Big 12 Championships will begin April 24-26 at The Rawls Course in Lubbock, Texas.


THE FIELD:  The Big 10-laden field consists of Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, K-State, Kent State, Michigan State, Minnesota, Nebraska, Northwestern, Ohio State, Penn State, Rollins, Washington and Wisconsin.


THE HOST Scarlet Course:  The Ohio State women’s golf program will host the Lady Buckeye Invitational at Scarlet Course. The course is a 6,228-yard par 72.


LAST TIME OUTK-State was never able to fully recover from a slow start in the Susie Maxwell Classic, as the Wildcats shot a 337 in the opening round and finished with a 337-316-324977 for the tournament. The Wildcats did have a duo finish on the cusp of a top 20 finish in freshman Ami Storey and sophomore Elise Houtz. Storey carded a 24-over score of 240 to finish tied for 21st place and Houtz finished just one stroke back from K-State’s leader in a tie for 24th place.


TOURNAMENT HISTORY:  K-State will make its first appearance in the Lady Buckeye Invitational since Spring of 1991 where the team finished 6th of 16 teams after carding a 327-340667.
