RHODES, Iowa-- The Kansas State women's golf team battled tough weather conditions Friday to sit in ninth-place at the Big 12 Championship at the par 72, 6,055-yard Harvester Golf Club.

The Wildcats look to move up the leaderboard tomorrow after firing an 18-hole score of 62-over par 350 in the first round.

"It was a tough day," said head coach Kristi Knight. "We did not hole any putts, and when the conditions are this bad, it is vital to hole putts in order to have a chance to score. That is why we are where we are. This team has shown character after bad rounds. We will spend much more time on the putting green before the round tomorrow, and hopefully we can take advantage of some good shots."

Olivia Eliasson led the Wildcats in the first round turning in an 18-hole score of 13-over par 85 to sit in a tie for 34th.

Hanna Roos notched a 15-over par 87 to sit in 39th, and one stroke behind Roos was Gianna Misenhelter who sits in a tie for 40th.

Carly Ragains and Whitney Pyle carded an 18-over par 90 to sit in a tie for 42nd.

Texas Tech currently leads the team competition with an 18-hole score of 28-over par 316, one stroke ahead of second-place Oklahoma State and three strokes ahead of third-place Baylor.

Baylor's Lauren Taylor leads the individual competition with a first-round score of 2-over par 74, one stroke ahead of Texas Tech's Kimberly Kaufman.
