Sunner, Houtz Honored By Big 12

 

IRVING, Texas - Abbi Sunner and Elise Houtz of the Kansas State women's golf team were named to the 2010 Academic All-Big 12 Women's Golf First Team, the conference announced today.

To qualify student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 60 percent of his/her team's scheduled contests.

The honor is Sunner's third in as many seasons, while she was also one of just three athletes out of 59 total with a perfect 4.0 GPA. A senior majoring in Life Sciences, Sunner was also just named to the Spring Chick-fil-A Community of Champions list last week for excellence in leadership and involvement in the community.

Sunner has competed in all 10 events this season and owns a team leading stroke average of 77.06. She has also finished in the top-20 three times and the top-10 once.

A junior majoring in Accounting, Houtz is a two-time recipient of Academic All-Big 12 Honors. Houtz has competed in eight of the 10 events this season recording a stroke average of 79.50 with three top-20 finishes.

K-State's next action will take place at the Big 12 Championships in Norman, Oklahoma, which will be held at Jimmie Austin Golf Course, April 23-25.
